Role Description 

This is the top HR/People Leader for an advanced manufacturing factory opening in Weirton, WV that will grow to an estimated workforce of more than 750 employees in three years. The Plant Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the People strategies and execution including employee engagement, culture stewardship, talent strategy, business partnership, people policy development specific to the Factory,  performance enablement, and employee relations.  They partner with People Centers of Expertise in People Operations, Total Rewards,  Learning & Development, Recruiting and Workforce development. This leader directly reports to the Chief People Officer with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Vice President of Manufacturing and is an essential member of the Factory leadership team.    

What you’ll do: 

  • Business Partnership: Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the plant’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, internal workforce development, recruiting, and retention.  

  • Workforce Planning - Forecast future skill needs based on changes in technology, product roadmaps, and company growth plans. Delivers a quarterly workforce plan forecast in service of workforce development, recruiting and scheduling.  

  • Talent Bench Management: Collaborate with Leadership and Learning & Development to design, implement, and oversee new training programs, create or adapt curriculums with external parties, and organize training sessions. Guides the onboarding experience to create a welcoming and engaging experience from day 1 that also serves to accelerate the time to readiness for new hires as they join our team.  

  • Coach: Build and support initiatives designed to empower and enable front line leaders and rising leaders to build followership, facilitate skill development, celebrate success and maintain accountability with productive feedback techniques across the Factory.   

  • Employee Engagement and Retention: Lead the people analytics to uncover barriers to engagement, inclusion and retention. Form action plans and execute problem resolution to minimize turnover trends or engagement themes across the Factory.  Collaborate with leadership and Learning on initiatives such as career development planning, mentorships, apprenticeships and other tools to improve employee satisfaction, engagement, and retention.  

  • Employee Relations and Compliance: Leads the creation and maintenance of the Form Factory people handbook in collaboration with the Employee Relations Manager and Legal. Accountable for people compliance, grievance administration, investigations and internal reviews that contribute to a safe and equitable workplace.  

  • Employee Experience Programming: Oversee the design and execution of a robust employee experience program that engages and rewards the employee base to create a work environment that emphasizes that our people are at the heart of our success.  

  • Assess Impact: Build the metrics and performance analytics to monitor the workforce health of the Factory. Oversees standard operating rhythms around people analytic insights that result in defined gap analysis linked to continuous improvement initiatives.  

  • Lead: Oversee the performance of the People team in support of the factory.  Recruit, onboard and provide role clarity. Set goals and lead outcomes for the team while providing constructive feedback and coaching. Guides the project work that includes partnership form People Center of Expertise colleagues and shapes the direction of the overall People department as a member of the People Leadership Team.   
     

Qualifications: 

  • 10+ years of progressive HR front line partnership experience  with at least 3 years of direct manufacturing program support within an advanced manufacturing environment. Minimum of 5 years of people management experience.   

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational development, industrial/organizational psychology, education, business administration, or equivalent experience is required.Relevant work experience that indicates a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, technology, and industry trends in advanced manufacturing. 

  • Knowledge of full lifecycle recruiting, people metrics, problem solving methodologies, continuous improvement methodologies,  training methodologies, adult learning principles.  

  • Must have handled complex employee relations with a detailed understanding of investigation processes,  federal and local employment laws and methods to mediate risk.  

  • Experience with labor organizations or union workforce is required.  

  • Strong communication skills, ability to market and champion a factory wide people strategy/roadmap and ability to professionally interact with external partners and internal stakeholders including a diverse employee base. 

  • Must bring an inclusive mindset with a readiness to design and implement programming focused on retention, engagement and belonging.  

  • Analytical abilities applied to skill assessments, forecasting future workforce needs, and evaluating training program effectiveness. 

  • Able and willing to travel for work with reliable transportation. Occasional overnight travel to conventions (i.e. Women in Manufacturing, etc.) or Form Energy offices in Boston, MA and Berkeley, CA must be feasible. Able and willing to flex the work schedule to be present for shift leadership when needed.
