Description

Shick Esteve is currently seeking a Controls Hardware Engineer to join our team in Kansas City, MO. The Controls Hardware Engineer is responsible for designing industrial control panel drawing packages including motor control circuits, 120Vac and 24Vdc power distribution schematics, Control Panel layouts, I/O ladder diagrams, and installation drawings. This position works collaboratively with other members of the engineering staff and electrical detailers to ensure that each project meets all necessary requirements.

What You'll Do

Controls engineering of dry and liquid ingredient handling systems based on proposed scope of work, customer requirements and specifications, industry and government regulations, and Shick Esteve design standards. This includes:

  • Preparing I/O list from a Piping & Instrumentation Diagram
  • Developing appropriate motor control circuits
  • Calculating total power requirements
  • Ensuring all customer expectations are met through the completeness of the design
  • Interfacing with electrical detailers to ensure drawings are created
  • Coordinating with software developers for the completion of the project
  • Providing support for shop construction of control panels
  • Providing support for hardware needs/issues while project is being installed
  • Assisting sales in developing solutions for customers
  • Heat load analysis and power load calculations
  • Other related duties/functions as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering OR 5+ years of control system design experience
  • Knowledge of PLC and HMI hardware equipment
  • High level experience with MS Office products
  • Experience with electrical circuit design and build
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment while maintaining schedule, cost and quality
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
  • Ability to perform hands-on trouble shooting of controls, electrical and instruments at fabrication shop or customer site locations
  • Strong critical thinking, objective reasoning and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of UL labeling and requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical preferred
  • Prior experience with wide range of control panel products preferred (Allen Bradley, Square D, Entrelec, etc)
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo and to propose new and better control panel equipment
