About the Role

Are you passionate about quality, manufacturing excellence, and supplier development? We are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will ensure that products and components supplied by external vendors meet quality, technical, and customer requirements. You'll play a key role in driving supplier performance, improving manufacturing processes, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct supplier audits, product inspections, and quality assessments to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and review quality documentation, including inspection plans, quality procedures, and supplier quality requirements.
  • Investigate nonconforming products, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor supplier quality performance and partner with suppliers to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support supplier qualification, development, and requalification activities.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Project teams to resolve quality concerns and improve processes.
  • Host supplier and customer inspections as needed.
  • Prepare quality reports, metrics, and documentation to communicate supplier performance and project status.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards, industry regulations, and company procedures.
  • Partner with primary suppliers, focusing heavily on metal foundries and mills, to establish clear quality standards, conduct process capability reviews, and resolve material discrepancies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgy, Quality, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Metals and Metallurgy Knowledge: Real world familiarity with aluminum, cast materials, raw metal procurement, and general metallurgy. You understand common foundry and mill defects such as porosity, inclusions, heat treat discrepancies, and dimensional variance
  • Five or more years of experience in supplier quality, quality engineering, manufacturing, or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as welding, machining, casting, fabrication, or assembly.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, inspection techniques, and industry standards.
  • Experience conducting supplier audits and inspections.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis, corrective action processes, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple departments.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship, both now and in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with nondestructive testing (NDT) methods.
  • Auditor certification or experience with supplier auditing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of ISO quality management systems or other relevant industry standards.
  • Experience with quality cost analysis, supplier development, or supplier performance management.
